That’s why we write about our favourite sponsored content campaigns every month. Roots Picnic: The Roots + When We All Vote

With the US Election coming in hot, Michelle Obama’s nonprofit organization When We All Vote is partnering with hip hop band The Roots to help get Americans registered to vote. The 13th annual Roots Picnic will be a virtual event this year, and it will be streamed live on The Root’s Youtube page on June 27. SZA, Snoh Aalegra, and H.E.R. are several of the artists that will be performing during the event, and there will also be appearances by Tracee Ellis Ross, Liza Koshy, Lin-Manual Miranda, Kerry Washington, and of course, Michelle Obama herself.

With Case Design’s CaseStudy® process, you won’t have to go to great lengths to explain what your hypothetical perfect home looks like; you’ll be able to physically see it. This month, Case Design teamed up with WPBrandStudios to demonstrate how interior designers and developers are reimagining home renovations with 3-D renderings and virtual consultations. How cool is that?

Engineering has the ability to impact and transform the quality of life for millions of people, but what most people see is simply the end result: a solution to a problem of public need. In reality, coming up with innovative designs and solutions is a longer and much more arduous process than most people care to acknowledge. “[The impact of engineering] is more than the idea. It’s the years of trial and error, dead ends, revisions and safety testing to make reliable and affordable products available to people who need them.” This month, WPBrandStudio teamed up with National Instruments (NI) to showcase the iterative process of creative engineering and how NI works with engineers to speed along their testing process.

Lost Baby Seal Gets HUGE — And Swims Back To The Wild (Comeback Kids): The Dodo + GEICO

Oh my gosh. OH MY GOSH. Who would have thought that a chubby, adorable baby seal could be a huge diva? The Dodo teamed up with GEICO to bring the fifth season of Comeback Kids, a show that documents the journeys of animals who had rough starts to their lives, to animal lovers around the globe. Episode 2 features Cloudberry, a baby seal who was rescued from a trunk in Ireland, rehabilitated, and later released into the wild. Watch the video to get your daily dose of cuteness and a chuckle over Cloudberry’s sassy attitude.

Come Back Stronger: Cristiano Ronaldo + CLEAR Haircare

The world has been through a tumultuous several months in the first half of 2020, with the pandemic uprooting everyone’s lives and anti-racism movements reaching a fever pitch around the world. Recognizing the strain that these events have on our mental health, CLEAR Haircare recruited Cristiano Ronaldo to spread word of their Resilience Challenge, an initiative “committed to equip 15 million young people around the world with tools to build resilience by the end of 2022”. This 14-day program includes daily videos and exercises that are designed to help people build mindfulness skills, created with the expertise of Dr. Michael Ungar and Dr. Philip Jefferies of Dalhousie University and Silja Litvin, a clinical psychologist and one of the UK’s leaders in mobile mental health.

Essentials for Daily Life: BBCStoryworks + Cosmetics Europe

In partnership with BBC Storyworks, Cosmetics Europe released this month a series of films that showcase how certain brands and manufacturers are working to make cosmetic products more eco-friendly to help the planet and provide fair pay for workers in the supply chain. These films cover topics such as protecting coral reefs, animal testing alternatives, female entrepreneurs, and the refill revolution happening in countries from around the globe. Simultaneously informative and visually pleasing, they engage viewers to take a deeper look into what goes on behind the scenes in the industry.

Sustainable Vancouver sunglasses startup raises $20K in first hours of launch: Daily Hive + TURTL

We all love a stylish pair of sunnies for summer, but has anyone stopped to think about the amount of plastic waste that comes from the eyewear industry (The answer is 100 million pounds. EACH YEAR. Cue collective groan.)? Well, founders Nick Findler and Rory Beaupre of Vancouver startup TURTL Sunglasses did. This month, they launched their first collection of plant-based sunglasses made from sustainably-sourced wood pulp material. Handcrafted in Italy, these sunglasses are EU-certified biodegradable, durable, and are presently available in three different styles and colours on Indiegogo. In honour of Father’s Day and the Black fathers whose lives have been taken by racially-motivated violence, Dove Men+Care teamed up with Imagine Entertainmen Documentaries to create this tribute to the amazing fathers around the world. The DADS documentary includes testimonials, interviews, and home videos from some of your favourite funnymen including Hasan Minhaj, Will Smith, Jimmy Fallon, Neil Patrick Harris, Ken Jeong, Jimmy Kimmel, and more.
